Frequently
Asked Questions about the Rolflor Cargo Handling
System
Is
the belt continuous?
No. The "belt" is similar to a roll of firm
in a camera. It is pulled between two winding
drums. To load the trailer the front drum
is engaged and to unload the trailer the rear
drum is engaged.
How
is the belt powered?
Hydraulic power provides the force required
to drive the belt winding drums that in turn
move the belt system. This hydraulic power
can be supplied from a variety of sources
including a wet kit (PTO) on the tractor,
or an electrohydraulic power pack mounted
on the trailer.
How
many years will the system last?
While it is dependant on many factors, the
Rolflor™ system is built to last on average,
over 7 years. Some systems are still operating
after 12 years of everyday use.
What
kind of trailer do I need?
Closed van or open top..... 45, 48, 53 foot.....even
flatbeds. The system can be installed in almost
any trailer. This question most often arises
when a potential customer is considering using
trailers from their existing fleet. Regardless
of size or shape, the thing to remember is
that the Rolflor™ system is built to last
many years and should be installed on a trailer
in very good condition.
How
is the system loaded?
A trailer equipped with a Rolflor™ system
can be loaded several ways. It can be "tailgate"
loaded; that is, two pallets can be loaded
at the rear of the trailer then moved forward
with the belt. This allows the trailer to
be completely loaded without the forklift
entering the trailer. This is particularly
helpful when the forklift is operating at
ground level. To attain maximum efficiency,
the trailer is loaded from a dock mounted
conveyor. This allows a pre-staged load to
be moved onto the trailer in less than four
minutes.
How
much does the system weigh?
Depending on the base system and options chosen,
the system weighs between 4,500 and 6,000
pounds. Increases in productivity and throughput
more than compensate for what may seem to
be a significant affect on payload capacity.
Does
the sytem require much maintenance?
On average, the Rolflor™ system requires less
than 5 hours per month to maintain. It requires
no special tools or materials, and maintenance
training is provided with your initial purchase.
What
type of loads will the system move?
Because the "Load Belt", which carries the
load, is the full width of the trailer floor,
loads of any footprint may be hauled in a
Rolflor™ equipped trailer. Bulk loads, pallets,
totes, racks, floor-loaded boxes or cartons,
drums, rolls of paper or fabric, and a mixture
of loads have been successully loaded and
unloaded with the Rolflor™ system.
What
kind of warranty does the system have?
The Rolflor™ system comes with a full one
year warranty from the date the system goes
into operation.
